Half Fare ID card information for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities
Senior citizens, persons with disabilities and Federal Medicare cardholders may ride JTS buses at reduced rates with their Medicare card or a Half Fare identification card.
New Half Fare Card Available
With the implementation of the MyJTS electronic farebox project, JTS is transitioning riders eligible for half fare to a replacement half fare card. Riders with existing paper ID cards may continue to use them; however, riders in need of a replacement or new Half Fare ID will have their name and photo incorporated in their MyJTS smart card or MyJTS app account. This means when riders eligible for Half Fare use the app or smart card to pay for their ride, they will not have to present a separate ID; they may simply show their name and photo from the app or from their smart card to confirm identity.
You may obtain an ID card at the following locations:
Transit Services Center, 101 Black Bridge Road Hours: 8:30am to 4pm Monday through Friday
Transit Transfer Center, 123 S. River Street Hours: 6 - 9:30pm Monday through Friday
You may print an application for a Half Fare ID card here.
There is no cost to the applicant for the initial card, however if the card is lost or stolen, a replacement card will be issued at a cost of $3.
Medicare or Half Fare ID card must be shown to the bus driver or clerk (MyJTS smart card; MyJTS app; or paper ID card) when purchasing or using a reduced fare pass, token, or cash fare. Following the ADA, JTS will also honor valid reduced fare or ADA Paratransit Certification Cards from any other U.S. transit system when presented at the time the fare is paid or Paratransit service is provided.
