The City of Janesville owns two golf courses. They are Riverside Golf Course, which is an 18-hole course and Blackhawk Golf Course, which is a nine-hole course. In the Spring of 2011 the City hired KemperSports to manage the two golf courses.

Riverside Golf course repeatedly has been given 3+ star ratings on a 4 star scale from Golf Digest and in 1998 was listed 47th on that same magazine's "Top 100 Best Values in Public Golf in the United States" list! It has been said by some that Riverside sets the standard for municipal golf courses. Blackhawk continually offers a low priced quality golf experience with superior greens and irrigated fairways.   

In fact, the City's golf courses continue to gain recognition for their excellence. NBC GolfPass recently announced Riverside Golf Course was the #6 Friendliest Public Course in the nation during their annual Golfers' Choice Awards. This ranking was made based on reviews submitted by actual course users. A review shared as part of the honor stated, "Come enjoy really good layout, greens, and staff—at an incredibly low cost."

Additionally, course operator KemperSports awarded Janesville staff the Green to a Tee Facility of the Year Award during its National Leadership Conference. This accolade acknowledges the staff's excellent commitment to being leaders in environmental stewardship and following best environmental practices at both Blackhawk and Riverside Golf Courses.
