The Child Safety Seat Inspection program assists parents in protecting their children by providing certified child safety seat technicians from the Janesville Fire and Police Departments. The Fire Department holds monthly installation and inspections events. During these events, technicians inspect, instruct and correct improperly installed child safety seats.

If a safety seat is found to be unsafe during an inspection, parents may choose to conveniently obtain a new low-cost safety seat from the Fire Department. Each inspection takes approximately 30 minutes and is free of charge; however, donations are accepted. The donations will be used to fund the operating costs of the inspection program.

To limit waiting periods for families, appointments are necessary. To make an appointment for an upcoming event, please contact the Car Seat Safety Hotline at (608) 921-3786.

All Child Safety Seat events are located at Fire Station #1 (303 Milton Avenue) and are held the second Thursday of every month.

For questions about this program or to register for an upcoming installation and inspection event or to set up an individual appointment, please contact the Janesville Fire Department at (608) 921-3786 or JFDcarseat@janesvillewi.govhopkinsc@ci.janesville.wi.us, or griffint@ci.janesville.wi.us
