The Janesville Police Department's mission is to enhance the quality of life in Janesville by working cooperatively with the community and citizens to enforce the law, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime and provide for a safe environment.
The Janesville Police Department was first awarded Certificate of Accreditation in May 2000 by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG), and most recently reaccredited in May 2020. The accreditation recognizes that Janesville's police department exemplifies the best professional practices in the conduct of its responsibilities.

For information regarding a street closing permit for block parties or other special events, please contact the Recreation Division. For any other type of street closing needed, contact the Police Department during business hours.
