The Water Utility maintains the City’s Wastewater Collection System – the sanitary mains that move wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The over 350 miles of mains are monitored and cleaned on a regular basis by four operators on the Collection System crew.

Cleaning methods are rodding (roots and other debris are cut up to smaller pieces which allows flow through the main) and jetting (high-pressure water pushes any debris through the main).

The crew also televises the interior of the mains to detect any deficiencies that will then be repaired.
