The City of Janesville park system welcomes volunteer service, cash, or material donations to maintain and enhance our park system. We welcome projects of any duration, and encourage ongoing park commitments.
Memorial Tree Planting Donation Program
The City of Janesville is known as "Wisconsin's Park Place" and is blessed with 2,611 acres of park land. Each year trees are lost to disease, injury and old age. It takes constant vigilance to maintain and expand our urban forest.
The Janesville Urban Forest Alliance's (JUFA, formerly J-STAC) mission is to promote and enhance the welfare of Janesville's urban forest. As a means to achieving that end, JUFA works in cooperation with the City Parks Division to sponsor a donor-funded Memorial Tree program.
A tree can serve as a loving tribute when used to honor or memorialize someone special. It will live for many years, giving shade, oxygen, soil protection, wildlife habitat and beauty to it's immediate environment and to the community at large.
Memorial Tree Planting Details:
Memorial trees will be planted twice a year--in the spring (April 15 to June 15) and fall (September 15 to November 15). JUFA will work with those who donate trees to suggest planting locations in parks with immediate tree needs, or those who donate may suggest the desired park location. JUFA will help those who donate to select a tree appropriate to the site of their choice. The final decision on species and location will be approved by the Parks Division. For more information contact the Parks Division at (608) 755-3025 or visit http://jufa1.org/index. Visit the donation page for a Memorial Tree Donation Application and additional information.
