“No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in erecting, removing, or servicing signs without first obtaining a Sign Erector’s License through the City of Janesville Clerk’s Office. The application for obtaining a Sign Erector’s License can be found here. Temporary signs and sandwich boards are exempt from the license requirement. To obtain a license, every applicant must provide a completed application to the City of Janesville Clerk’s Office, provide proof of insurance as required in the sign code, and pay the requisite $90 licensing fee. The application must then be approved by the City Council. Any questions regarding licensing requirements may be directed to the Clerk’s Office at 608-755-3070. Any questions regarding the sign code, sign districts, or other regulatory requirements may be directed to the City of Janesville Building Division at 608-755-3060. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:30PM.
