Start Smart Basketball
Start Smart Basketball is a six-week instructional program that helps parents teach their children, ages 4-6, the basics of basketball, such as dribbling, ball handling, passing, catching, shooting, and running. The program helps to prepare children for organized youth sports by using safe, fun, and age-appropriate equipment to teach them the basic motor skills needed to play basketball, without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Both parents and children should dress in active clothes. Only one parent per child. No spectators allowed.
Location is TBD. Event participants will be emailed with Janesville elementary school location(s) before the class start date.
Register on ActiveNet or at the Recreation Office. Registration deadline is January 6.
A minimum of 8 participants is needed to hold classes. A maximum of 16 participants may register.

Start Smart Sports Development
Start Smart Sports Development is an instructional program that prepares youth, ages 3 to 5 for organized sports without the fear of competition. Parents play together with their child, the instructor, and other children in a social setting to learn the basic skills of throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Program goals are to increase individual skill development and assist parent in understanding their child’s interests. Both parents and children dress in active clothes ready to play!
