FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS, FIRE ALARMS, & DETECTORS 

  • All plan submittals for any project will need to be submitted to EPlan Exam as of December 1, 2022. 
  • All work, including the alteration or addition of existing systems associated with fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, detectors, kitchen hood suppression systems, and other life safety systems or components, requires the submittal of a Fire Protection Testing System Application The application and fees must be submitted to the Janesville Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau and plans must be conditionally approved by EPlan Exam prior to commencement of work. 
  • Any new fire sprinkler or fire alarm system and the addition or alteration of any number of sprinkler heads or alarm devices require plan review through EPlan Exam. Occupancies governed by the Department of Health and Safety are also subject to review through that agency.
  • All new systems, devices, components, and certain alterations to systems must be acceptance tested, and the test shall be witnessed by a Janesville Fire Department representative. Call the Janesville Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau at (608) 755-3056 to schedule testing at least 72 hours in advance.
  • Conditional approval of a submitted plan shall not be deemed or construed as an approval of any violation of any applicable codes.
  • Fees for plan review can be found on the EPlan Exam site
