Calling all bands! Battle of the Bands will be held at the Marvin W. Roth Community Pavilion at Lower Courthouse Park in front of a live audience on Thursday, July 13 at 6 p.m. The contest is open to youth entering grades 6-12. Bands can have up to two younger or older (up to age 20) band members.

Bands wishing to apply should complete a band entry form and have a parent or guardian sign and turn in the rules and regulations form. Forms can be printed online or picked up at the Recreation Division office, the Hedberg Public Library, Voigt Music Center and Knapton Musik Knotes, Inc. All bands will perform one song. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. The first place winner of the Battle will receive one hour studio time with JATV and will perform in the Winner’s Showcase LIVE at Voigt Music Center. The second place winner of the Battle will perform in the Winner’s Showcase LIVE at Voigt Music Center.

If you are not musically inclined, come out to listen to great music from some of Janesville’s best youth performers. This event is a partnership between the Janesville Recreation Division, Hedberg Public Library, Knapton Musik Knotes, Inc., JATV Media Services, Gemini Music Studios, Voigt Music Center, Janesville Performing Arts Center and Janesville Mobilizing 4 Change. There is no fee for this event. Pre-register by 4:30 p.m. on June 23 and contact the Recreation Division with any questions at (608) 755-3030.
