Junior Lifeguarding Camp is designed for youth ages 11 - 14 who are competent swimmers wishing to gain further skills. This camp helps the Recreation Division get a foundation of quality lifeguards for future years. The content of the camp focuses on developing swimming skills to help participants meet the lifeguarding course prerequisite. The camp also introduces participants to lifesaving skills such as in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first-aid, CPR and AED. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow lifeguards in rotation to get a real sense of the job.
The program includes 15 – two hour sessions. The course is not a lifeguard certification class. The camp fee is $80 and includes a t-shirt. All sessions are held at Rockport Pool from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants must attend all dates, including:
- Monday – Friday, June 12 – 16;
- Monday – Friday, June 19 – 23; and
- Monday – Friday, June 26 – 30.
