On May 31, from 1 – 3 p.m. the City will hold its first “Tweet Along” on Twitter, shedding light into the day-to-day activities of personnel from the Janesville Fire Department. City staff will tweet about activities occurring out of the Central Fire Station, including calls for service, Fire Prevention Bureau work, activities performed by firefighter/paramedics between calls, and more.
The purpose of the tweet along is to give the public perspective on how the City’s departments operate with an inside view that is not typically available. This is the City’s latest effort at remaining a transparent and accessible organization in the community. The City plans to hold other tweet alongs over the next year including ridealongs with a police officer, a snow plow operator and a trash/recycling collection worker.
Members of the public are encouraged to follow along and get involved with the tweet along by tweeting questions or comments @City_Janesville or #jvltweetalong.
Please contact the City Manager’s Office with questions at (608) 755-3103.
