Join Marian McCormick, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for this interactive program on meal planning, label reading, and eating smarter away from home. The first class will cover meal planning, the second class will cover label reading and the last class will cover eating smarter away from home.
Meal Planning (first class) – Whether you are a family of 6 or a family of 1, this class will teach you portion control and how to create a balanced meal. Together, we will plan a full week of menus! Recipes provided!
Label reading (second class) – Is this a treat or does it provide nutritional value? What is that ingredient?! This class offers an interactive mind-blowing lesson on just how much fat and sugar we can consume in 1 day.
Eating Away from Home (last class) – Finally getting a break from cooking? Great! This class will teach you how to keep your calories in check and provides strategies to make healthier choices when eating away from home.
Classes will be held from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. at the Senior Center Conference Room on Thursdays, May 4 – 18. Ages 13 and up are invited to participate. Cost is $60/student. Each student will receive recipes, meal planning sheets and information on label reading and creating balanced meals. Please pre-register online or at the Janesville Recreation Division office by May 1. Please contact the Recreation Division with any questions at (608) 755-3030.
