On Wednesday, May 18, the Senior Center will host researcher Clark Kidder in the Senior Center Riverview Room. The program will feature a lunch of turkey burger pie, fruit mix, broccoli salad and orange pie at 12:15pm, with the program to follow at 1pm.
Between 1854 and 1929, nearly 250,000 children were transported from New York City to the homes of farm families in almost every state – particularly in the Midwest. Kidder will tell the story of his paternal grandmother, the late Emily (Reese) Kidder of Milton, who was brought to Wisconsin in 1909 as one of these orphan children. He will read from his new book, “Emily’s Story – The Brave Journey of an Orphan Train Rider.” Kidder will also show pictures from the book in a PowerPoint presentation and will conduct a Q & A session following the presentation.
This program will cost $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Please register and pay by Friday, May 13. A minimum of 40 attendees must register in advance for this program to happen. For questions or to register, please call the Senior Center at 755-3040.
This activity at the Senior Center is open to individuals ages 50 and older.
