On April 22, the City of Janesville and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater are partnering to host Make A Difference Day (MADD). City staff and volunteers will work with 200-250 students from UW-Whitewater and community volunteers on four projects throughout the city, including:
- Downtown cleanup including window washing, preparing flower beds, planting trees and general cleanup;
- Afton Road trail cleanup;
- Neighborhood parks cleanup including Fourth Ward Park, Washington Park, Bond Park, and the Monterey community gardens; and
- Rock County Historical Society campus improvements including grounds cleanup, digitizing archives, and marketing/promotion focus groups.
The event will allow students to get involved and give back to the community and assist staff in tackling special maintenance and improvement projects. Following the work time, a celebration picnic for those involved will take place.
