The Janesville Housing Authority will be opening our Rental Assistance Program (Section 8 – Housing Choice Voucher Program) waiting list to new applications beginning April 7, 2016. Thereafter, the waiting list will remain open indefinitely. This program provides financial assistance to low income families to pay rent and utilities.
Applications will be given out and accepted on April 7, 2016 and April 8, 2016 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Janesville City Hall, 4th Floor, Council Chambers, 18 N. Jackson St., Janesville, WI 53548.
After these two dates, applications can be picked up and submitted at the Janesville City Hall, 1st Floor, Neighborhood & Community Services Department, 18 N. Jackson St. Janesville, WI 53548 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Any interested individual may complete a waiting list application and eligibility will be determined when an application comes to the top of the waiting list.
Applications will not be given out in advance. Applications are entered on the waiting list based upon the date and time they are received. Applicants will be asked to provide the last four digits of their social security number.
The City of Janesville grants preference to individuals who live or work within the City of Janesville. Individuals seeking a local preference must bring current (no older than 60 days) proof of local residency and/or employment. This could include: a driver’s license, State or Federal ID card, lease, utility bill, social security statement or check stub.
A Spanish translator will be available on Thursday, April 7 from 8 a.m. to Noon. Additional translation services will be available by contacting our office at 755-3065 to schedule an appointment.
