Senior Center Event: “Hoo’s Woods Snowy Owl”

The Senior Center will be hosting Dianne Moller and “Wesley” the snowy owl in the program “Hoo’s Woods Snowy Owl.” The event will take place on February 17 in the Riverview Room, with lunch at 12:15pm and the program at 1pm. The lunch will feature retro hot chicken salad, raspberry jello salad, peas, rolls and a dessert. The program cost is $10 for members and $12 for guests.

During this 45 minute educational program, you will meet “Wesley,” an educational snowy owl. Participants will learn about Wesley’s remarkable journey from the Arctic and amazing will to survive. Participants will also learn about a snowy owl’s natural history, breeding, habitat and behaviors. Photos are welcome!

About Snowy Owls

Of all the different species of owls found in the world, the snowy owl of the Arctic is one of the more beautiful and fascinating. Snowy owls are the largest owl in North America. These owls breed in the arctic, but sometimes winter in the northern parts of the United States.

About the speaker Dianne Moller

Dianne Moller is a native of Southern Wisconsin and founder of “Hoo's Woods Raptor Center,” founded in 1998. She is a licensed educator, falconer, rehabilitator and eagle handler through state and federal agencies. Dianne also serves as Public Relations Officer for the North American Falconer's Association and leads an International Women’s Working Group for the International Association of Falconry. She has represented the U.S. at the International Falconry Festival in the Middle East in 2011 and 2014. In April 2015, she was awarded Wildlife Conservationist of the Year by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.

This activity at the Senior Center is open to individuals ages 50 and older.
