Join us for a night hike in Janesville’s largest park. We will hike the paths to listen, see, and smell the natural world on what should be a warm summer’s eve. This is the peak time of year to see bats, fireflies, and glowworms, smell the night-blooming wildflowers and hear the calls of owls, frogs, and toads. This is an excellent program for families with small children or for scout groups, church groups, etc.
Wear light-colored clothing and footwear suitable for hiking. Be prepared for mosquitoes; bring your own mosquito repellent. Please leave your flashlights at home. Hiking difficulty ranges from easy to moderate. This hike is cosponsored by the Friends of Rockport Park and the Rock County Conservationists. Please meet at the west end of the parking lot next to the swimming pool in Rockport Park at 9:00 p.m. on June 13. Please pre-register by June 10. The program is free. Please contact the Recreation Division at 755-3030 for more information.
