North Jackson Street Streetscape Improvements Community Engagement Meeting

The City of Janesville will host a community engagement forum to solicit input and feedback from community members on streetscape improvements to North Jackson Street between Mineral Point Avenue and Court Street. The community engagement forum will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers at 18 North Jackson Street from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015.

North Jackson Street between Mineral Point Avenue and Court Street is a corridor of significance as it connects the downtown area with the Lincoln-Tallman House and the Look West neighborhood. The project intends to make this portion of North Jackson Street more aesthetically pleasing, functional, and pedestrian-friendly. Potential improvements under consideration include landscaping, terrace pavers, street lighting, community identification, and gateway features. The project will coincide with utility and street reconstruction of North Jackson Street between Race Street and Mineral Point Avenue. The City has hired the consulting firm Vandewalle and Associates to prepare conceptual design plans.

The meeting offers Janesville community members an opportunity to provide input on proposed improvements and to suggest additional design ideas.

Requests for additional information and questions can be directed to Paul Q. Woodard, Director of Public Works at woodardp@ci.janesville.wi.us or (608) 755-3182.
