On Tuesday October 29, the Janesville Transit System (JTS) will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the purchase of six replacement city buses. This free event for the public will take place from 12:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., with the ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. This event will take place along Festival Street in downtown Janesville. This event will include the presence of two city buses for the public to tour, along with an opportunity to enjoy beautiful downtown Janesville while enjoying an Autumn-themed treat.
Also included in this special event is the presentation of the Wisconsin Public Transit Association’s (WIPTA) Public Transit Leadership Award to Representative Amy Loudenbeck. This award is given to Representative Loudenbeck in appreciation for her support of the establishment of a statewide transit capital assistance fund. This fund was established as part of the 2017 Wisconsin State biennium budget and offers transit systems another avenue in which to pursue funds for replacement buses. The citizens of Janesville directly benefited from the establishment of the transit capital assistance fund, as JTS applied and was successful in receiving funding to replace three transit buses through this new grant program.
