Start Smart Basketball is a six-week instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their children in teaching them the basics of basketball, including:
- Dribbling and Ball Handling
- Passing and Catching
- Shooting and Running
The program helps prepare children for organized youth sports by using safe, fun and age appropriate equipment to teach them the basic motor skills needed to play basketball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Both parents and children must dress in attire ready to play! This program is open to children ages 4-6.
The program will take place from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday evenings from January 3 – February 7 at Jefferson Elementary School Gym (on January 3 & 10) and Roosevelt Elementary School Gym (on January 17-February 7). The cost of the program is $39. Please pre-register at the Recreation Division office or online by Monday, December 31. Please contact the Recreation Division with any questions at (608) 755-3030.
