The Janesville Recreation Division and the Blackhawk Musky Club co-sponsor this fun family event! Other primary sponsors are It’s A Keeper Bait & Tackle and Modern Woodman of America. The Take a Kid Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 2 at Traxler Park Lagoon with fishing taking place from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and prizes announced from 12:30 – 1p.m. There will be a kid’s casting contest, biggest fish contest, pictures taken with your fish, minnow races and plenty of other surprises. Tons of prizes will be awarded! Concessions will be available for purchase. Please bring your own rod, reel, and bait. Pre-register at the Recreation Division office, Gander Outdoors, Pizza Hut (Court Street or Milton Avenue), It’s A Keeper Bait & Tackle, or Blain’s Farm and Fleet from May 1 – 28.

This is a special day to promote youth fishing so no license is required. It’s A Keeper Bait & Tackle will have extra bait for anyone without bait. Don’t forget your camera!
